Minecraft PS4 Fails Certification as August Comes to a Close

It’s unlikely that Minecraft will meets the August release date on PS4 after it failed the Sony certification tests. So it’s back to the fixing board for 4J Studios, and the team will need to submit the game for certification before it can be released.

4J has been busy resolving bugs and squishing issues throughout the month, and not just in the PS4 version but in the coming Xbox One and Vita releases too. We’ve contacted the studio to confirm a delay, and whether that’ll only affect the PS4 version or other platforms too. The three ports are scheduled to launch this month.

Sony discovered some issues in #MinecraftPS4’s final test. We are currently working on fixing them, but we still need to go through the entire procedure again.

– 4J Studios (@4JStudios) August 20, 2014. When they do hit the market, the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Mojang’s game will cost $20 on digital storefronts. Minecraft Servers Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will be able upgrade to Xbox One or PS4 for $5. This offer will be valid at least one year after the date of release. The new ports will offer bigger worlds and more draw distance than previous console releases.

In the case of the Vita version it’s cross-buy with PS3 which means that those who purchased Minecraft on the console will get the handheld version for free, while new buyers can unlock the game on both PS3 and Vita. Like the other ports, the asking price to grind your pickaxe on Vita is $20.
